What is a heel spur?

A Heel Spur is a piece of bone that forms on the bottom of the heel bone and is usually associated with plantar fasciitis.  A large percent of patients with plantar fascitis will have a heel spur.  The pain associated with this bottom of the heel pain can severely limit activities.
