Warts

Causes: Warts are small skin growths caused by (HPV), which infects the top layer of skin. There are more than 40 different types of HPV. It can be transmitted from one person to another either by direct contact, or indirectly when both people come in contact with a surface, such as a floor or desk. HPV also can be transmitted in the same person from one spot on the body to another. It is easier for HPV to infect a person when the person's skin is scratched or cut. People may come into contact with HPV by walking barefoot in public places, such as gyms and shower floors.

Symptoms: Plantar warts are usually found on the feet. They usually develop underneath pressure points on your foot like the heel and are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). The virus enters the body through open cuts in the skin. They are not a serious health concern but can be painful.

Prevention & Care: To avoid getting plantar warts, don't go barefoot in public. Keep feet clean. Do not share foot hygiene products such a pumice stones and avoid touching warts (including your own).
